Andrew Stempel selected to play for St. Bonaventure University

Current CHA Owner and goaltender will be suiting up for the St. Bonaventure Bonnies for his first collegiate year.

Andrew Stempel has had a history of being the backbone for his team. Stempel led the Great Neck Bruins in 2024-2025 to their first appearance in the EJEPL 16u Futures 1 playoffs, after setting a record breaking stat line of .940 SV% and 1.97 GAA, which led all of EJEPL 16u and has been ranked 7th all-time in EJEPL league history for 16u. After jumping ship a year later to the Dix Hills Hawks 18u A, Stempel continued to aspire in his leadership and on-ice skills, leading Dix Hills to an impressive 16-1 record from December to February. Stempel was also named Captain for his senior year at Ward Melville High School, in the SCHSHL, where he was also selected for the All-Star Skills Challenge.

For CHA, Andrew Stempel has been the only goalie to suit up for the program, and has set himself as a reliable goaltender for his teammates, while also leading the whole operation behind the scenes. Stempel was the runner-up for the 2026 Defensive Player of the Year.

We are excited to see how Stempel can bring his leadership into the collegiate level, after officially being selected to play for the St. Bonaventure University AAU D2 squad.

Nick Misurella set to play for SUNY Farmingdale State College ACHA D1

Current CHA athlete and last seasons Offensive Player of the Year, Nick Misurella is set to play for Farmingdale State College ACHA D1 after an impressive showing during Farmingdale's training camp.

Nick's impressive hockey IQ and scoring factor is what stands him out from the rest. Nick Misurella has been a great example of the development factor CHA Hockey produces, being able to advance from the Great Neck Bruins 16u A to the Nassau County Lions 18u AA during his time with us. CHA helped build Nick into the Great Neck Bruins star player, leading them in goals and points. His newfound character during his time playing for CHA helped Nick be selected as the Assistant Captain for the Bruins. Nick brought the Bruins to a semi-final spot in both the EJEPL 16u Futures 1 division and the NYSAHA East Section Tier III Regionals in 2025. When he moved over to the Nassau County Lions 18u AA, he once again led the Lions in points, and allowed them to secure a spot in the NYSAHA Tier II State tournament.

For CHA, Nick Misurella has been a force on the ice beginning in 2024 when he debuted for us. Nick has been a key factor in CHA's transition to 16u A to 18u AAA. His coaches and teammates voted him 2026 Offensive Player of the Year, and we can be sure that he will be in contention for this award next year as well.

Coming into SUNY Farmingdale as a true freshman, we are proud to announce his selection for Farmingdale's ACHA D1 team and cannot wait to see what he can do on the ice in the collegiate level.

Brett Spiers to Move Out to New Jersey for His New Opportunity

The 2026 Most Valuable Player and Defensive Player of the Year has been granted an opportunity in New Jersey to play for the New Jersey Titans 18u AAA AP team.

One of the most recognizable faces in this organization has to be star defensemen Brett Spiers. Brett's development as a player both on the ice and off the ice is a story to be heard. Brett began to be heard around Long Island during his time with the Long Island Edge 16u AA, where he easily stood out as the best defensemen on the team, leading them to capture the EJEPL 16u Diamond 2 championship. Following this season, Brett moved onto the junior hockey realm and got his first opportunity at home playing for the PAL Jr. Islanders in the USPHL Elite Division. He also began to have a hometown name, after playing for the Smithtown/Hauppauge Bulls of the Suffolk County Highschool Hockey League, the defending State Champions.

Following an absurd season in USPHL Elite, beating the all-time record for most points as a defensemen in Islanders Elite history and being named one of the top rising stars in the entire league, Brett Spiers got invited to the New Jersey Titans NAHL training camp. After a good showing, the Titans advised Brett to sign with their highly skilled 18u AAA AP team, their NAHL feeder travel team.

Brett Spiers signed with CHA during the inaugural season, but unfortunately for us, had to sit out due to an upper body injury. He made his official debut in 2025, and became the best defensemen (and offensive player) CHA had that year. In 2026, Brett was named Assistant Captain, and was named the TNA Wrestling Player of the Tournament for our Jersey Shore Summer Sizzler event. Also, Brett was named 2026 MVP and DPOY by his teammates and coaches.

Brett's character and skill has become better after signing with CHA, and we hope to see him further develop during his upcoming season with the New Jersey Titans.
